Leftover Fabric
So this weekend I was having a direct sales party. As I was cleaning up for that party I decided that I needed a pick me up for my couch pillows. I had picked out new fabrics a while ago and made these beauties up in less than and hour. I love how they turned out!

So......with the left over scraps I decided to make myself a cute new cover/pouch for my phone. I've had a plain red plastic case on it and I'm always looking for a better one (by better I mean cuter) and I come home disappointed with what's out there. I decided I would make one that I like (duh!) and that way it could be as cute as I wanted to be. I was inspired by this post from a new blog I started following today....you can see the inspiration here. Kate is adorable and I couldn't stop reading her blog. Check it out - you won't be able to stop either :o)
Ignore that extra thread there at the bottom - don't you hate it when you see something like that after taking pictures......
I absolutely love how this turned out and it's exactly how I imagined it would be!

So Frustrated.....
I have two wonderful girls (I almost said little girls, but at ten and eight...they are not so little anymore) who treat people with respect, believes that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and treat all people equal. With that being said, let me give you a little background.....
Last year my eight year old was attacked at her lunch recess at school. She was threatened by another girl and that girl then proceeded to choke her out on the playground. My daughter probably weights less than 50 lbs with a ten pound weight hanging from her pants and the girl who attacked her was easily twice her size. Not a single adult saw it happen and my daughter had to fight this girl off. I was not called by the principal immediately after it happening, I actually had to go to her the next morning. The girl was not suspended, sent home for the day or reprimanded in a way that would show her, bullying, in any form would not be tolerated.
We fought our school over how they handled the situation and tried to have things changed, but to no avail. We started this school year with high hopes that some growing up would be done over the summer and things would be different. Sadly, they have not changed. My daughters deal with this girl everyday and her cruel taunts. Her parents either don't care or are not aware of the situation......so now I have a decision to make.
Transfer schools or contact an attorney?
Have you had any troubles with bullying at your school, and if so, how was it handled?

Got Guilt?
As a mother of three, there are things I feel guilty about when it comes to my kids.
Let me give you a little background. My mother has suffered with migraines since she was about thirty-two. They are debilitating, painful, and last forever. After having my son, I was also diagnosed with chronic migraines. I have discovered my triggers, but unfortunately they are lack of sleep and stress (how can you have three kids, a husband, and a full time job and not be stressed or tired!!!!).
I have learned to live with the migraines, but my son has to live with them as well. At about two years old my son was getting really sick every two or three months. He would throw up (sorry TMI) everything he ate and then he would pass out dead tired for the next 15 hours. Seriously, he would look like death warmed over. This happened two or three times over the coarse of the next year and I decided enough was enough and took him to the doctors. Guess what? He was diagnosed with migraines as well. Poor guy!
There is light at the end of the tunnel for him though. When he hits puberty - they should go away. He is now old enough that he can tell me when a migraine is coming on and knows that he needs to take his medicine and go lay down to take his "nap". I feel terrible that I have passed this onto him. It doesn't seem fair that a five year old should have to deal with something as awful as a migraine, hence......
THE GUILT.
Am I the only one out there that feels this way?

What to Make?
So I have been trying to stick to a crafting budget (which means I'm trying to use up my current fabric stash so I can purchase some more - woo hoo!) and have this hot pink basic t-shirt and fabric. My daughter loves pink (like someone else I know ) and I decided I would make her an outfit.
Out of the circle fabric I made her a simple gathered skirt. To give it a little more detail, I added some orange binding tape. Instead of sewing a single row of stitching on the binding tape I sewed two rows of stitching.
Then I decided that I was going to make the plain t-shirt...... a little more girly! I measured my daughters arms and hips with elastic pulled comfortably around her and sewed that into the t-shirt.
It created a wonderful gathered sleeve and hem.

Here's how the complete outfit turned out.....My daughter loves it! So excited that my 5th grader doesn't care what others think and has her own style. She also loves to wear clothes I make and brags to her
friends about them.
friends about them.
Now my daughter is not a "normal" girl so to speak. She loves all things icky! Not to mention that she is very interested in the human skeleton. She picked out the skull and cross bones picture and I attached it to the front of her shirt with heat and bond, then top stitched around the skull for added security.
Simple and easy! She can wear the outfit so many different ways: the shirt with capris, the skirt with a
tank top, etc.......and it cost me nothing to make!.

I just can't get over how sweet she looks.

Why must it be so difficult?!?
Mornings.....School day mornings to be exact.
My three adorable kids must be at school at 8:15am which should give them plenty of time to get ready...especially with a 6:30am wake up, but its not!
They will do absolutely anything to delay the inevitable teeth brushing, hair brushing and outfit picking. There's always arguing about silly things and usually there is at least one time every morning that the words "Keep your hands to yourself" come out of my mouth.
Everyday after dropping them off, I walk back to my car, get in, and exhale a huge sigh and think,
At least they got there on time.
Hard to stay frustrated with them though when they are just so darn cute!

I'm Back!
Well I hate to say it, but I have neglected my blog. I decided last week that I would love to use my blog as a way to connect with new people and share my thoughts about crafting, children, news and life in general. Look for most posts to come!
